What would you do for a living…..??

Posted in Uncategorized on May 26, 2010 by yujeanscene

Today on my Facebook wall, an acquaintance asked the question “What would you do for a living other than what you do today?” and I was thinking about it. What could possibly be better than working with great artists, (some of the hippest and truly best people around) and our customers. Entrepreneurs, free spirits, creative in their own right, and great folks.

We love ’em all.

And then I thought, one of the best things about Yujean is our staff, and maybe it’s time to introduce a few of them.

Doug is our warehouse manager, although he prefers the title “Sticker Slinger”. Doug is smart and fast and hardworking, and juggles a million things at once. On the days that he picks the music in the warehouse (they take turns: we are in SOME ways democratic!) it’s rap. Crazy, right? His loyal dog Lexie is queen of the warehouse.

Scott is purchasing-plus. He orders our products from their various manufacturers, tracks and arranges shipments, keeps track of stock (so you hopefully VERY rarely have a backorder!), pulls and packs orders and keeps things straight. On his radio days, it’s NPR ALL the time! Scott is calm and quiet, and the funniest guy. He keeps the mood light, even when things get crazy.

Noah does it all–EDI specialist (no one but him really knows what that is, except that it is an enormously complex and absurd way that huge companies get orders and control information: I think I prefer to leave it to Noah!), customer service rep and order packer and preparer. Noah plays a didgeridoo in his spare time and I am willing to bet, were there a radio station that played it, he would tune into it! (But Noah–can ya dance to it?)

Great crew, great people, and we are happy they are part of the Yujean team!

And finally Pumpkin, our newest team member. She may be a poodle, but she is funny as anything, and a swell cheerleader. As you see here.

They’re Selling Like Hotcakes!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on May 21, 2010 by yujeanscene

We get asked all the time: “What are your top sellers?” Usually it’s uncomfortable retail buyers who ask–after all, there’s a lot at stake when you are buying for a business, and you risk making the wrong choice. The choice that no one else would make. The choice that would make your customers cringe, run screaming, look elsewhere. We usually consult with our buyers and store owners to learn more about their businesses and their patrons, so they can fill their racks with the kinds of designs and products that will make their stores money, and their customers happy. Our retail customers–individuals who order from our website–are more relaxed. They have no one to please but themselves. Still, we throw a LOT of designs and products at them, and it can be difficult to wade through it all.

So today, Yujeanscene offers some extra hot sellers for your viewing pleasure.

I’ve talked about our new Roller Derby stuff before here, and I have to mention it again. Just in for over a month, and it is KICKING it!!!!! The whole line. Every piece has been a winner, so far!

Dan Morris is one of our top selling artists of all time. You can see why, here. Amazing celestial and earthly images, in these incredible collages of color and icon. Oh yeah–and he and his wife Barb are great people, besides!

Sunny Buick is as active as ever, and we literally can’t keep her products in stock. This to-die-for Rose Sugar Skull is the single most popular design in our line, at this moment. So don’t miss it!

Michael Landefeld is a master of the vintage pinup girl! We love his sassy Card Girls, but there are so many more. In fact, our whole pinup section–with Michael, Ted Hammond, Dave Nestler and other top pinup artists–is a constant top category.

Fairies and fantasy artists are huge at Yujean. No one more popular than Nene Thomas. Her work is divine. How else to say it??

We love the Grateful Dead, and count Deadheads as amongst our favorite customers. Here is a super hot selling embroidered patch.

Sorry, y’all. Nothing personal. The great guys at Hot Leathers sent this piece of art over, and we gave it a try. Is it any surprise that this is one of our hottest selling stickers this year? Well, no one ever went broke trying to push the sticker envelope.

So there you have it. It was impossible to show you ALL Yujean hot products and artists, so we just included  a few of them here to inspire you. As always, you can see EVERYTHING at

Space Your Face

Posted in Uncategorized on May 16, 2010 by yujeanscene

From time to time, as we look for new art, up and coming artists, and find places for them in the Yujean family, we get called back to old favorites.

We just reissued a classic–Space Your Face, a version of the Grateful Dead‘s iconic Steal Your Face. Originally from the Dead’s 1980s tour days (or even before….we aren’t sure), Space was popular for years, and now is back, by popular demand.

Readers–any info about Space Your Face? Any Dead designs you’d like to see reissued? We’d love to hear from you. If we use your suggestion, or you have some good information, I’ll personally send you some free Dead stuff.

How can you lose?

Old friends…..

We are annoyingly crazy about our dogs at Yujean.

We do have a couple of cat people on board, and God bless ’em, but the Yujean persona is, I’m afraid, purely canine. Over the years, many have come and gone. Cooper, Maggie, Friday, Sophie the Sheltie and Willie the three legged cocker spaniel. The current pack: Ruby, Murphy, Lexie and Pumpkin. Occasionally Henry the Newfoundland comes over for a visit, so Murphy the Westie can try to bully him around. (Thank goodness for Henry’s sweet disposition and very thick hair!) They come to work every day. If you are talking to our staff, and hear something like pure bedlam in the background, it probably just means that the pack is on the job, and all is well.

So it’s a dog day morning, and time for a post honoring our pals.

Terrible photo...but it does capture the spirit of The Rubes

Thank You, Harvey Milk

Harvey Milk: the first openly gay man to serve in public office in California, and an idealist who worked toward a righteous, humane world.

Some of our favorite quotes by Harvey Milk:

“All men are created equal. No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words.”

“All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.”

“It takes no compromising to give people their rights. It takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no survey to remove repressions.”

“Burst down those closet doors once and for all, and stand up and start to fight.”

“It’s not my victory, it’s yours and yours and yours. If a gay can win, it means there is hope that the system can work for all minorities if we fight. We’ve given them hope.”

It is just a small homage, but we make stickers at It’s what we do.

Thank you Harvey.
